Regeneration by Gibson, Mawby and Whatley

Regeneration by Richard Gibson, Lee Mawby and David Whatley

Regeneration was created as a community sculpture with Richard Gibson, Lee Mawby and David Whatley. It was commissioned by Peterborough Environment City Trust (PECT) in 1999 to promote the Peterborough Green Wheel and was created during a number of events where the public were invited to participate by inscribing their memories of Peterborough. This sculpture is the last one to be found in south side of Peterborough Rowing Course, located at its end. It is clumped together with two other public sculptures, Simon Perry's Quarry and Jane Ackroyd's Little Prince. I visited all three sculptures one recent weekend walking from far away Ferry Meadows with my older son. The weather was threatening with rain as we went there but only got drenched midway on our way back to Ferry Meadows.
