Family day-out in Trentham Gardens

After several trips to Stoke-on-Trent to visit my wife's best friend from university and her family, we finally went to Trentham Gardens in the summer of 2017. And it was an amazing half-day out to remember!

We arrived around lunchtime, had a quick stroll at the Shopping Village but the children are having none of it. So, we grabbed a bite at the nearby Frankie & Benny's Italian restaurant. Then we went back and bought a Garden Day ticket as we plan to enjoy the glorious gardens this place is famous for.

From the Shopping Village, we went the way pointed at by Titania, the Queen of the Fairies, where 15 of her fairy friends will be found inside the estate. Sadly, I only met Spidy during our visit. Next time we go back I will look for the other 14 fairies.

Following a map given to us at the ticket office we ventured out to see some of the gardens (read the previous post) before we took a break at the Adventure Playground, like the:
  • Floral Labyrinth
  • Trentham Hall Remains
  • Viewing Platform and Upper Flower Garden
  • Show Gardens
  • Trellis Walk & David Austin Rose Border
  • Rivers of Grass

The children and their moms went to have a great time doing the tormenting Barefoot Walk and getting lost in the Maze, while I looked after our things in the Adventure playground benches.

A day is not enough to enjoy Trentham Gardens, we only scratched the surface. The gardens and the adventure park are just taster sessions, if you like. There are still lots more to do as Trentham Estate is huge. It will take several visits to enjoy the place. Who knows, we will visit again. And again.
